17th February, 2014 - Auckland to Raglan

Didn't get away until about 10.30am to avoid the busy morning traffic. Also we couldn't get into our motel until 2.30pm. Had a good trip south from Auckland turning off at Ngaruawahia after a big Mac in Huntly for lunch. Nice hilly rolling countryside on the road to Raglan. All very dry and very brown. We looked back at the wind farm.

Arrived at Motel checked in then went for a drive down to the fishing wharf to buy some fresh flounder for dinner.

PT spotted this number plate which tickled his fancy.

Look at the size of this old bach

Had a walk along the waterfront along the estuary just in front of our unit. Later went for a swim as it was just so hot. Met up with some kids from Holland,UK, & USA touring our country, had a long chat with them back to the supermarket to buy some beer and back to motel had a drink and cooked dinner. Another walk through the main street after dinner. Raglan seems a great place seems a lot of space around you with all the estuaries going inland a long way.

Motel room looking from the patio looking back inside through the lounge to the kitchen.

On the above photo you can see some stairs going up on the right, that leads up to the huge bedroom with nice bi-fold windows looking over the estuary.

Our motel behind the trees under the palm tree. You cross this bridge to go over for a swim

From the bridge looking over up the other end of the estuary. This is where I had my swim.

We are looking forward to going out to the surf beaches tomorrow I think that there are about three different beaches on the west coast nearby. Love this place, great area.
